Hello pickle obsessives, have we got a treat for you! In this workshop we are going to talk pickles and only pickles: pickles prepared in all kinds of ways, pickles from around the world, pickled fruit, pickled vegetables, quick pickles and slow pickles. We’ll start by teaching you all about vinegar and how it works its pickling magic, plus teach you how to match your produce to the right vinegar. We’ll discuss seasons, how to interchange vegetables and fruits, different pickling techniques and lots of ideas on how to enjoy your pickles. You’ll learn all the essential safety information and leave confident to be able to pickle anything.

- A seasonal pickled fruit for cheese plates and salads
- A waste warrior quick pickle to help you use up odds and ends from the crisper

Where are the workshops held?
Cornersmith Cooking School will be running its 2021 summer schedule (5th February – 18th April) at Carriageworks, in the corner kitchen space in the main building.
Parking and public transportation:
Limited on-site parking is available at the end of Carriageworks Way. Enter via 229 Wilson Street. We encourage taking public transport when possible. Carriageworks is easily accessible by train. Walk eight minutes from Redfern Station, ten minutes from Macdonaldtown Station or 15 minutes from Newtown Station. Bus routes 422, 423, 426, 428, 370, 352 stop on City Road at Codrington Street, a five minute walk from Carriageworks.
What to wear:
The only requirement is to wear closed toe flat shoes. We will provide aprons.
What to expect in a Cornersmith workshop:
All our workshops are relaxed with a focus on home cooking skills. The space at Carriageworks can accommodate social distancing requirements without losing any of the warmth and fun that make our workshops so special. You will leave with the knowledge and confidence to continue your cooking adventures at home.
Dietary requirements for refreshment
You will be provided with refreshments and a light snack during the workshop. Please let us know if you have any dietary requirements when making your booking, and we will do our best to accommodate (some workshops cannot be altered, please check specific workshop description). Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate dietary requirements with less than 48 hours’ notice.
To comply with COVID-19 regulations, please inform us BEFORE coming to a class if you have any flu-like symptoms so we can arrange an alternative date for your booking. Otherwise, we have a strict 14-day cancellation/transfer policy. Workshop bookings are non-refundable, but you are welcome to send someone in your place.
