She is determined to show cooks why preserving is so important in busy modern kitchens, how to use preserving not only to make delicious homemade condiments but also as an important tool to reduce food waste at home.

About the class

Preserving does not have to be difficult or take all weekend. In fact, it can be as easy as turning two tired eggplants into a jar of relish chutney, a few cucumbers into a jar of pickles or the last two lemons in the fruit bowl into homemade preserved lemons. In this class you will be introduced to the craft of pickling, including fennel pickling, pickled pears and a roasted vegetable pickle demonstration. Alex uses adaptable recipes so you can interchange what you have, what you grow, or what needs using up in the fruit bowl and fridge. Come, enjoy, and learn all the tricks about pickling!
